100% latex-free party balloons
the future of safe celebrations
Lisa Rios, the founder of Nitrile Balloons, first learned about latex allergies when she had her son Luca. Luca has spina bifida and must avoid latex because even a small exposure could trigger a dangerous allergic reaction.
Latex balloons release microscopic airborne particles when they pop, making them especially dangerous. Before Luca, Lisa never gave a second thought to latex, and never imagined that something as celebratory as balloons could exclude and endanger.
Lisa aims to raise awareness about latex allergies and the danger posed by balloons, and to offer an alternative.
Inspired by how healthcare facilities have replaced latex gloves with nitrile gloves, Lisa set out to do the same for balloons. In June 2025, she filed a provisional patent for 100% latex-free nitrile party balloons and began connecting with manufacturers. Her goal is to shift the multi-billion dollar balloon industry away from latex balloons by offering safe balloons that will give millions of people a reason to celebrate.
